Grand Place

Grand Place is the magnificent mediaeval place gather around by the buildings from the 17 century, its dominant is gothic city with 96 m high tower, on its top is situated the statue of the Holy Michael, the patron of the Brussels.

The frontage of every house is different even so all the houses make very harmonious architectural whole. The Grand Place has belonged to World Heritage list from 1998. Although this part of the city is very nice, the restaurants around Grand Place are definitely a tourist trap. Always overcrowded and usually with very bad service and high prices! The same good food you can meet in Rue de Bouchers, it is a very famous street with the best pubs, restaurants.

You must taste the best dish made from shell, prepared in old knocked pots. Are you little bit tired by the Old town and watching still the same? Let's visit the part of Brussels called Ixelles, you will not be disappointed! Belgium radio and tv station have its seat in Flagey which is Art Deco building. Résidence de la Cambre is another noteworthy Art Deco building.

One of the most important and the best-known cemetery is right here in Ixelles. You can find the graves of famous Belgium persons. Audrey Hepburn was born in Ixelles, like as notorious known serial murder Marc Dutroux.
